Bornpretty Review – Clear Stamper, Liquid Peel, and Nail Studs

Today I have a review of 3 products sent to me by Vivian (@bornprettynailart) from www.bornprettystore.com – clear stamper, liquid peel off tape, and nail studs. All products are available from the store and you can use my coupon code, CHEEK31, to get 10% off any full priced item. Full products list used for this mani is at the end of this post.

First up is the clear stamper. This is the first clear stamper I’ve used and I have to say I am quite impressed. You can see very clearly through the non-stamping end and line up your images quite well. The stamper comes as a set with a matching coloured plastic scraper, but I found that it wasn’t as good as using an old credit card or equivalent store card etc, because it doesn’t scrape as smoothly and evenly.

There are only 2 issues I have with this stamper, which has nothing to do with the quality of the stamper but rather my own personal issues. One is that it’s not a soft squishy stamper but not quite hard either. This middle ground stamper means it’s a little difficult to fully transfer the image onto my very curvy nails. You have to roll the stamper around a bit rather than squish downwards. The second issue is that I actually still have trouble placing the image in the right spot because I get double vision! Other than that, I really, really love this stamper and would love to get another one that’s more soft and squishy to suit my curvier nails.

Second item to review is the liquid peel off tape for protecting your skin during stamping, gradients, watermarbling, nose picking, etc. I have only tried it for the first two techniques but will try it with wm soon enough (though probably won’t try it for the nose…). For stamping and gradients, it’s amazing. It comes in a nail polish style bottle with brush that is easy to apply around the nails on the skin. It takes just under 1-2 minutes to dry, depending on how thickly you apply it. I found that a thicker application made it much easier to peel off as a whole layer of tape, and that took around 2 minutes to dry for me. It definitely dries much faster than the PVA glue I’ve been using, and is much, much easier to apply. You can tell when it’s dry because it turns from a shiny colour to a dull matte colour. It stays white the whole time.

Image 5: It’s nail stamping time! I used La Quin An stamping polish which I purchased from bornpretty store a while ago. It’s a great white stamping polish by the way.

Last item for review are these nail art decorations or nail studs. I chose christmas themed ones to review. The wheel set includes bronze and gold tones of moose, reindeer, stars, christmas stockings, christmas wreath, christmas bells, christmas presents, snowflakes, and flowers. For this particular mani, I chose to use the moose and shooting stars. But because this mani was going to be a starry night theme, I turned the moose stud around so that it was black rather than bronze. I used the bronze shooting stars the right way around to add a bit of colour to the final mani. I cut up half the shooting star and used a full one too. My only quibble with these studs is they are a little sharp on some of the edges and so need lots of top coat to protect them if you plan to wear them for more than a few hours.

Image 8: I applied the moose nail studs as a reverse image (i.e. make the black side the front to show it up as a silhouette). I then hand painted some white stars with acrylic paint.

The La Quin An white stamping polish can also be purchased at bornpretty store. I bought the red, white and black set and all three polishes stamp extremely well. They are very opaque and transfer beautifully from image plate to stamper to nail.
